Construction Impact 

Bringing onshore wind on land requires drilling for underground lines. The Atlantic Shores power lines will need to run about 11 miles to reach Substation in Howell where power will be connected to the grid. Local 
communities will be forced to live with the daily consequences: 

• Severe impact on quality of life. Drilling, which will likely go on 24/7, creates serious noise issues, pollution, dirt, and traffic problems.

• Industrial-scale construction. The construction will impact quiet residential communities, businesses, schools and recreation areas – including the Coast to Capitol Bike Trail. There are homes along the route that are 10-15 yards away from where the cables will be buried.

• Work that takes years to complete. The construction – even when all goes well - takes years, not months.

​​

• Loss in property values and business income. People who live in impacted areas will see a decline in the desirability of their homes from a resale or rental perspective. Businesses will see a loss in revenue due to traffic issues and noise.
