Sea Girt, Manasquan, Wall and Howell are the target communities for bringing offshore wind energy onshore. The infrastructure project includes up to 6,400 megawatts, underground, EMF cables running within 10-15 yards of homes, schools businesses and recreation areas. This is almost 10 times the power of the recently closed Oyster Creek nuclear plant. The federal government admits that the health and environmental risks are unknown. No project of this magnitude has been tested anywhere in the world.

Tell the Governor "NO" Rally Planned for October 6
On October 6, Governor Murphy is scheduled to visit the National Guard Training Center in Sea Girt -- the site where the high-risk power cables are proposed to come onshore. The event is well-covered by the media and a rare opportunity to tell the governor that no NJ community should be forced to be a laboratory for an unproven high-risk expeirment that stands to jeopardize our health and safety.

The information-packed meeting provided a comprehensive overview of what's planned for the community and updates from elected representatives on their efforts to challenge the project. Speakers included: Congressman, Chris Smith (R-Manchester), a leading advocate for local residents who have raised serious concerns over the offshore wind industrialization of the Jersey Shore, Monmouth/Ocean Ccounty Assemblyman Paul Kanitra, Sea Girt Mayor Don Fetzer, Manasquan Mayor Mike Mangan, Mike Dean from Save the East Coast, Cindy Zipf from Clean Ocean Action, Keith Moore from Defend New Jersey Beaches and Glenn Hughes and Kimberly Paterson from StopTheHighRiskPowerCables.org.
